The recalled products carry the establishment number "P-46684" or "EST. M46684" within the Agriculture Department's inspection mark, according to FSIS.

The contamination was first identified during routine testing on October 21, 2024, when FSIS detected Listeria monocytogenes in a finished product. Further testing confirmed the presence of the bacteria in additional samples, including environmental swabs.

FSIS is collaborating with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and public health officials across several states to investigate the outbreak.

The CDC has reported that 11 individuals in four states have contracted the outbreak strain of listeria, with nine people hospitalized. The cases were linked to samples collected between October 24, 2021, and July 31, 2024. Among the victims is a pregnant woman from California, whose twins were affected, with one of the babies dying. Although the mother and one twin tested positive for listeria, no listeria was found in the other twin, so that infant was not included in the outbreak statistics.
