Four people have died and 19 others were hospitalized in a nationwide listeria outbreak tied to ready-to-eat pasta meals sold at major grocery chains, the CDC announced.

As of Sept. 30, 20 confirmed listeria cases have been reported across 15 states. The outbreak is linked to recalled pasta meals sold at:

Trader Joe’s
Kroger
Albertsons

Deaths occurred in Illinois, Michigan, Texas, and Utah, including one pregnancy-associated case that led to fetal loss.

❗ What Is Listeria?
Listeria is a serious infection caused by eating food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Symptoms include:
Fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, diarrhea, and convulsions.
It can also cause miscarriage, stillbirth, or life-threatening infections in newborns.
High-risk groups:
Pregnant people
Adults over 65
People with weakened immune systems
