Additional Pasta Products Recalled Amid Widening Listeria Outbreak

wo more food recalls have been issued in connection with a multi-state listeria outbreak that has resulted in four fatalities, including a fetus, and at least 20 reported illnesses across 15 states. The affected items are ready-to-eat pasta meals sold by major retailers, including Publix, Walmart, and Kroger, as well as other grocery chains and independent stores.

One of the new recalls involves products distributed by Nate’s Fine Foods, based in Roseville, California. The company has voluntarily withdrawn five batches of Scott & Jon’s Shrimp Scampi with Linguini due to potential contamination. The recalled lot numbers are S254522, S255522, S259522, S263521, and S263522, all with "best by" dates in March 2027.

As of Sunday, both Walmart and Publix have confirmed on their websites that they carried the affected shrimp pasta meals. Walmart stores impacted by the recall span the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and 42 states including California, Florida, Texas, Georgia, New York, and many others.

Customers in possession of the recalled products are urged to discard them securely or return them for a full refund. Questions can be directed to Demers Food Group at 800-239-9731 during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET).

In a separate recall, Kroger has pulled two prepared pasta salads—Basil Pesto Bowtie Salad and Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad—sold under its own brand and at affiliated chains such as Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, King Soopers, Smith’s, and others. These items were available from August 29 through October 3.

The recall affects stores in over two dozen states, including Michigan, Ohio, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and California.
